Chatham-Kent’s top doctor is pleased to see the province moving ahead with the next phase of reopening.
Ontario will be moving into Step 2 of its reopening plan next Wednesday, two days ahead of schedule.
Medical Officer Dr. David Colby says he’s pleased to see more services and amenities being allowed to operate once again.
“The numbers justify it,” Dr. Colby says. “Those were the criteria that were set out from the beginning, they include very substantial immunization targets which provide a tremendous cushion in society from the virus spreading. Full steam ahead, I say.”
Premier Doug Ford has hinted at possibly moving to Step 3 of the reopening plan ahead of schedule as well.
However, Dr. Colby says even with case numbers on the decline and vaccination rates going up, we can’t get ahead of ourselves.
“I was on a conference call with the Medical Officers of Health of Ontario, and we all advise caution about moving into phase 3. We’re a cautious bunch, our job is to keep the people of Ontario safe, and we really just want to take a pause for a second and not move too quickly.
