Dragons will be racing across the water in Wallaceburg this weekend.
The 22nd annual Sydenham Challenge Dragon Boat Festival takes place tomorrow morning at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18.
The annual event on the Sydenham River is typically seen as the unofficial start of summer, drawing thousands of people to Wallaceburg’s downtown.
34 teams from across North America have registered to take part in the event, which includes a pink carnation ceremony honouring breast cancer survivors, those who have been lost to the disease, and those who are still battling.
The first race hits the water just after 8 o’clock.
James Street will be closed in downtown Wallaceburg between Nelson Street and Fork Street from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. to prepare for the event.
