The decision to rezone a property in Dresden has been moved to allow for a public information session.

Council was presented with a motion to change the zoning of 650 Park Street in Dresden from a senior citizen facility to an apartment building.

The property currently contains a single-storey building that was formerly utilized as a senior citizen dwelling, last operating as Park Street Place Retirement Residence.

Dresden residents came out to share their grievances, with council voting 11 to 5 in favour of holding a public meeting.  Councillors Aaron Hall, Melissa Harrigan, Brock McGregor, Anthony Ceccacci, and Mayor Darrin Canniff voted against, with Councilor Alysson Storey sitting out due to a conflict of interest.

The date for the public consultation has not been set. But after its completion, no further public notice is needed.

There are no plans to make the new building have affordable or supportive housing.
