A youth centre in Dresden is expanding with the purchase of a new building in the downtown core.

Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre has reached an agreement to purchase the former TD Bank building on St. George Street South, with plans to transform the space into the new Sidestreets Community Hub.

“This is an exciting and meaningful step forward for our organization and for the community,” said Lori Ouellette, Board Chair of Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre, in a news release. “This space gives us the opportunity to expand youth programming while also creating a place where the entire community can come together. We see this as an investment not just in youth, but in the future of Dresden.”

Youth drop-in programming will be the first initiative launched by the new hub, followed by the inclusion of community events, family activities, workshops, meetings, senior activities and partnerships with local organizations.

The purchase and renovation of the new building will be funded through the sale of the current youth centre building on Main Street.

The Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre is a non-profit charitable organization that has been dedicated to serving youth aged 10-17 for the last 26 years. The organization provides safe, supportive programming focused on mentorship, life skills, and positive community engagement.
