Charges have been laid after a stolen vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers received several calls from Good Samaritans after a vehicle was spotted in the centre median on the highway near Victoria Road.

Authorities said officers arrived at the scene and determined, with help from Windsor Police Service, that the vehicle had been stolen.

The driver was arrested without incident and it was learned they were also wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by Windsor police.

As a result, a 31-year-old Harrow resident has been charged with possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, driving without a licence, and careless driving.

The accused was transferred the custody of the Windsor Police Service and is scheduled to answer the charges in court in Chatham in March.
