A driver involved in a hit and run left an easy trail for Chatham-Kent Police to follow.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in Chatham on Friday, but one of the vehicles had already left the scene with heavy front-end damage.
The vehicle had been leaking fluids and left a trail – authorities found it still running, parked at an apartment building with its airbags deployed.
The driver returned to the vehicle a short time later and was arrested.
Police say the 26-year-old man already had a criminal driving prohibition and was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Highway Traffic Act. The accused was released with a future court date and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
