A 19 year old Chatham man was arrested early Sunday morning after someone tipped off police he may have over indulged.
They picked up the vehicle on Kiel Drive around 3 am, and followed him from a safe distance.
When he turned onto Merritt Ave and struck a tree they had a chat.
They decided he was under the influence, and placed him under arrest.
He has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
He will be released with a future court date.
