Drivers Issued Nearly 100 Tickets The First Week Of School

Police have issued dozens of tickets following a back-to-school traffic enforcement blitz throughout Chatham-Kent

The Chatham-Kent Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police teamed up during the first week back to school to educate motorists on school bus safety and conduct speed enforcement in local school zones.

As a result of the four-day campaign between September 6-9, police officers issued 90 tickets for speeding and other related offences. However, no school bus stop offences were reported or observed.

“The lives of our children are paramount and need to be protected,” Chatham-Kent police said in a news release. “Remember, when you see the flashing red lights of a stopped school bus, please – Give Buses a Brake.”
