A warning from Chatham-Kent Police as crews are preparing to begin the final phase of investigation into potential gas wells in downtown Wheatley.
The roadway and sidewalk between 22 Elm Street and the corner of Elm and Erie Streets has been added to the work site and will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic until the work has been completed.
However, over the weekend, police received several complaints of drivers not obeying the road closure signs. Authorities warn failure to obey these signs or other road closure devices can cost $110 under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police say if a road is closed, or congested with construction, find another way.
