Drug Charges Laid Following Wheatley Traffic Stop

Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Wheatley.

Shortly after 1:30 last Thursday afternoon, Chatham-Kent Police officers on patrol spotted a vehicle being driven erratically near Middleton Line and Klondyke Road.

The driver was pulled over and police discovered the 41-year-old Kingsville man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and had been suspended from driving.

A search of the vehicle turned up fentanyl, cocaine, digital scales, packaging materials, and other drug-related items.

The man has now been charged with driving while suspended, and two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

His passenger, a 36-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, was also charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both were taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
