Charges have been laid against a local man after being stopped by police near downtown Chatham.
Authorities say the accused was walking on William Street North when an officer recognized the man from previous interactions and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
The man was taken to police headquarters, and a search turned up suspected methamphetamine.
The 40-year-old now charged with possession of a controlled substance.
He was released from custody with conditions and another date in court next month.
