A drug bust in Chatham has led to charges for two women.
Officers with the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on King Street East on Wednesday as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Police seized roughly $1200 worth of fentanyl from the home along with a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, mobile devices, digital scales, packing material, cutting agents and less than $1000 in cash.
A 31-year-old woman is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order.
A 28-year-old woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, failing to comply with a release order, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
Both accused were held in custody for bail hearings.
