Drugs, Guns Seized During Bust On Walpole Island

More than two dozen charges have been laid following a drug bust on Walpole Island First Nation.

The Ontario Provincial Police, with assistance from the Walpole Island Police Service, executed a search warrant at a residence on Tecumseh Road on January 30, as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

During a search, officers seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, several firearms, Canadian currency, and other offence-related items. The combined value of the items seized is estimated at around $19,400.

As a result, a 41-year-old Walpole Island man is now charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, 18 counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition.

He was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance.
