Dufferin Avenue Construction Starting This Month

Construction crews will be mobilizing in the next few weeks as a major road project in Wallaceburg gets underway.

Municipal officials say the initial stages of the Dufferin Avenue reconstruction will begin Monday, June 12th.

Construction on the 1.9 km section of Dufferin Avenue from McNaughton Avenue to 90 metres west of Walnut Drive is expected to continue until November with final restoration work completed in the spring and summer of 2024.

Along with the road, construction crews will be replacing storm sewers, watermains, sidewalks, and traffic signals.

Officials say while there will be some unavoidable disruptions, traffic will be able to flow in both directions for the duration of construction with access to businesses and properties remaining open.

Chatham-Kent has set asideĀ $8.7 million to rehabilitate the road. The province has also committed $3 million in funding through the Connecting Links program.
