The bitter is far outweighed by the sweet for retiring MP Dave Van Kesteren.

The now-former Chatham-Kent-Leamington Conservative has passed on the torch to Dave Epp, who was elected last night, and says he has many fond memories from his 13 years in office.

“Talking about those first few months when I was elected, the first few months were just a fog. You just inherited this new position and you had to feel your way and find your way, and that was memorable,” Says Van Kesteren.  “My wife coming up to Ottawa, Peter Bondy, my first Chief of Staff.  Those first few months.  Those are cherished memories.”

Van Kesteren says he’s looking forward to spending more time as a father, grandfather, and husband, and will be doing more traveling with his wife.
