No injuries have been reported following an early morning fire in Wallaceburg.
Chatham-Kent Fire Captain Tom Dodman says crews were called to the scene at 800 Wallace Street East around 1:30 this morning.
“Occupants in the apartment left the apartment, we spent a couple of hours knocking it down and then trying to help the rest of the people in the building acquire some stuff for a day or so.”
Officials say the unit and its contents were heavily damaged, there was water damage to the apartment next door and on the floor below, and smoke damage throughout the building.
Damage is pegged at $200,000. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
