A Catholic elementary school in Tilbury has been recognized by a provincial organization for providing a healthy environment for students and educators.
The Ontario Health and Physical Education Association (OPHEA) recently named École St-Francis as a Gold-certified “healthy school.” The designation recognizes the school’s ongoing efforts to foster the health and well-being of the entire school community.
According to Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, the students at St-Francis took part in a wide range of activities this year to promote their well-being, sense of belonging and inclusion.
“The school team played a significant role in strengthening ties between students and adults at the school and in developing curiosity, open-mindedness, empathy and exchanges among members of the Saint-Francis school community,” the school board said.
Three other schools within the CSC Providence network were recognized by the health organization as well, including Saint-Antoine in Tecumseh, Sainte-Thérèse in Windsor, and Catholic secondary school l’Essor in Tecumseh.
