A school bus safety program is being offered to young students to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming school year.
Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services is hosting a FIRST TIME RIDER Orientation Day on Saturday for JK to Grade 1 students from the Lambton Kent District School Board and St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
Children and their parents are encouraged to attend the free information session, which is being held at two separate locations simultaneously. One will be held at Ursuline College in Chatham with the other taking place at Great Lakes Secondary School in Sarnia.
Attendees will watch a brief animated school bus safety video and then have the opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride together. Safety trainers will also present to talk about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.
The sessions will run continuously between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and are around 30 minutes long.
