A Kitchener man has become the eighth person arrested in connection with the death of a man on Walpole Island First Nation.
Ontario Provincial Police officers attended Sault Ste. Marie Police Service headquarters on March 26, and took the man into custody on the strength of a warrant.
Turuk Thomas, 20, is now charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Oyebode Oyenuga.
Oyenuga was reported missing in Windsor in February 2021 and his remains were discovered on Walpole Island on March 17.
Seven other suspects have been arrested in the case, including five charged with first-degree murder, one with weapons offences, and another for being an accessory after the fact.
