The province is unveiling plans to install electric vehicle charging stations across the province, including three in Chatham-Kent.
Province-wide, the government plans to build almost 500 charging stations at more than 250 locations.
Three local businesses are getting on board with the plan – Tim Hortons on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg, the Richmond Street McDonalds in Chatham, and Tim Hortons on Third Street in Chatham.
The stations are all listed as “level 3 charging stations” which can charge a vehicle to about 80% in half an hour.
While no completion date has been set for the local construction, the entire project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2017.
Figures show there are currently 7,000 electric vehicles on the road in Ontario.
