Over 160 drivers have been given a lesson in proper driving habits by Ontario Provincial Police.

Elgin OPP is putting the wraps on its Thanksgiving weekend traffic campaign. Operation Impact ran October 11 through 14 with more than 160 traffic stops and 165 charges laid across Elgin County and Chatham-Kent.

Those numbers include 114 speeding charges, one stunt driving charge, six impaired driving charges. Officers also laid another 26 charges for other traffic-related offences, and more than 70 warnings were issued.

Authorities say poor driving behaviours pose a serious risk to all road users.
