Chatham-Kent Council is hoping to improve special event permit processes.

At council on Monday, a South Kent councillor is bringing forward a motion to have municipal administration look at the special event permit process and identify ways they can improve response time and customer service.

Permits are required for any events held on municipal property where alcohol will be served to the public.

With the province loosening regulations surrounding the public consumption of alcohol, the motion is also asking staff to raise any concerns with the Ontario government in regard to issuing permits at the local level.
