The municipality will go ahead with an emergency alert system.

Councilors took time in Mondays session to look at the cost and feasibility of a system to include all residents.

There is a concern the current system is not available for people who rely on land lines, and instead  focuses on social media through cell phones and emails for the most part.

Councillor Mark Authier first brought up the idea in March.

The alerts would include items like boil water advisories and emergency situations.

By the time they factor in the cost of the software, implementation, and advertising it will run about $75,000 dollars a year.

The money will be set aside in the 2021 budget.
