First responders are back in Wheatley this morning after a hydrogen sulfide detector went off.

It’s the same area of town where a gas leak forced the evacuation of a stretch of Erie Street North back on June 2nd.

Fire fighters from Wheatley and Tilbury are at the scene, along with police, EMS, Enbridge, and Entegrus.

Erie St N between Talbot St. and Elm St. and Talbot St. E between Erie St. to Little St. have been closed off. Homes & business in those areas are also being evacuated as a precaution.

The Provincial Emergency Operation Centre has been contacted to request assistance from provincial partners.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
