After two more gas leaks in downtown Wheatley in the past week, municipal and provincial officials say safety remains their top priority.
Supervised appointments so residents could have access to their properties were suspended after the most recent leak on Monday, but resumed on Thursday.
So far, over $400,000 in emergency funding has been distributed to 29 businesses within the evacuation zone. In all, 38 businesses were affected by the August 26th explosion, but CAO Don Shropshire says not all wanted or qualified for the provincial money.
Residents looking for provincial support have until the end of January to submit an application.
Chatham-Kent representatives have been holding weekly conference calls with Premier Doug Ford to keep him updated on the ongoing investigation into the source of hydrogen sulphide.
The Technical Advisory Committee continues to plan for the next steps in the investigation, with heavy machinery expected on-site in early December to assist with demolition and excavation efforts.
