It was a big cheque with a big impact.
Enbridge Gas is donating $100,000 to Chatham-Kent Housing Services.
The money is earmarked for energy efficiency projects that will help lower energy costs at a pair of affordable housing developments in Chatham and Blenheim, reduce emissions, and increase comfort during the cold winter months.
Al Sasseville is Chatham-Kent’s Manager of Housing Assets and says the four units do the job of 12 old ones.
“It pressurizes our hallways, conditions the air,” Sasseville says. “With that many people, specifically at 99 McNaughton, you have 129 units. You generate odours, you’ve got to maintain airflow, those units are what we use to do that.”
According to Mark Glasier, Energy Solutions Supervisor for Enbridge, the energy savings over the life of the units is at least $150,000.
