There’s labour peace at Enbridge Gas.
Over 100 storage, transmission, and operations employees, including roughly 60 workers at the Dawn Hub in Tupperville, have been on strike since May 25 in a dispute over wages.
A tentative agreement was reached between the utility and Unifor Local 999 on Friday, and was ratified by the union membership in a vote on Monday.
According to a Unifor spokesperson, 102 members out of 107 voted, with 81% accepting a four year deal through 2024.
“Unionized employees are valued members of our workforce and the successful outcome of these negotiations reflects our common goal of a workplace that is safe, stable, and grounded in our core company of integrity and respect,” says Andrea Stass, Enbridge Gas Manager of External Communications and Media Relations.
Unifor Local 999 Unit Chair Stacey Renaud says technicians are still without a contract of their own, and have delayed strike action with a date set next week to continue negotiations.
