Chatham-Kent residents are invited to an in-person information session as municipal officials examine options for curbside food waste disposal.

Chatham-Kent Waste Management will host its second of two public engagement sessions at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Community members are invited to join the conversation and provide feedback on the feasibility of an Organic Waste Diversion Program (green bin program) in the municipality.

According to CK officials, organic waste such as food waste, oil, grease, coffee grounds, and non-recyclable paper make up around 30 per cent of residential garbage. Officials hope to divert 50 per cent of organic waste from landfills by implementing a green bin program.
