The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has several big ticket items on their Community Planning and Partnership Capital Plan update for the next couple of years including new schools.
But topping the list is a replacement school for Ursuline College.
The board was turned down for funding by the Ministry the last time they applied but Associate Director of Corporate Services Amy Janssens says things are different now.
“When we met with the Ministry of Education after they denied our application for UCC, they told us it was still a good business case and they’ve asked us to resubmit this year,” Janssens says. “So we’re taking some further steps to enhance our application and to try to be successful this year.”
Janssens says the ultimate goal is to provide the best educational experience for staff and students.
Meantime, the St Clair Catholic Board is busy with plans for two new schools, one in south Chatham and another in Sarnia.
