A local utility is giving back to the community in a big way.

Entegrus is donating $200,000 from its Corporate Donation Program to the United Way’s COVID-19 response and recovery fund. The money is earmarked for helping the municipality’s most vulnerable citizens.

“Entegrus is known for assisting other utilities in times of crisis after devastating storms in both Canada and the United States,” says United Way CEO Steve Pratt. “It’s comforting to know that when help is needed in our own backyard, Entegrus is here to answer the call. This significant contribution will help position us to weather this unprecedented storm we are facing in our own community, ensuring basic needs will be met for those who need it most.”

Meantime, $80,000 is going to the Salvation Army in the three primary Entegrus hubs. To break it down, the Chatham-Kent Ministries will receive the lion’s share at $46,000, Salvation Army St. Thomas Citadel & Community Ministries will receive $23,000, and Strathroy’s Salvation Army Community and Family Services is on the receiving end of $11,000.

“An unprecedented amount of people will be looking for assistance this year,” says Entegrus President and CEO, Jim Hogan. “We have allocated funds to support the organizations in our communities who support our vulnerable population.”
