Entegrus Helps Support Energy Efficiency at OVCLT

A local utility is throwing its support behind an affordable housing project in Chatham-Kent.

Entegrus is donating $10,000 to the Opportunity Villages Community Land Trust, which is constructing dozens of small homes in Chatham to help bridge the gap between rental and home ownership.

“We are very grateful to Entegrus for their donation of $10 000 towards Net Zero Innovation & Research for this project,” OVCLT officials say in an online statement. “Net Zero homes mean that we will not only be able to create energy efficient homes but that we will be countering energy use over the community by producing offsetting energy onsite. This initiative will help the environment while also allowing for more affordable and more predictable monthly bills for the occupants in the community.”

An online fundraiser was launched last month to help build the community building, which will serve as the development’s energy hub. CLICK HERE to donate.

A site plan for the overall project is expected to come before council for approval this fall.
