Entegrus President and CEO, Jim Hogan, says the deal will see the two entities melded into a regional utility.

“This is a great opportunity to Entegrus to continue to provide the high level of service to customers,” Hogan says. “With St Thomas Energy they’re a very efficient utility providing some very competitive rates, so it’s a very good partnership.”

The two sides hope to have approval from the Ontario Energy Board in 2017, with the merger finalized in early 2018.

Hogan says it’s a win-win for the companies and customers.

“There will be no change to any of the customers in 2017,” Hogan explains, “but once it’s done this will provide additional resources for Entegrus to provide customers the same level of service and better service as the industry continues to change.”

Once the deal has been finalized, the new utility will cover a service area from Wheatley to St Thomas and Parkhill, becoming the 11th largest utility in the province.

The newly-formed company will maintain its current offices in Chatham, Strathroy, and St Thomas.
