Entegrus line crews headed to Florida to provide support to those affected by recent hurricanes have been called off.

Within 24 hours of receiving a call for assistance, a team of 14 Entegrus employees hit the road, joined by crews from Bluewater Power, ERTH Power, Essex Powerlines, and E.L.K. Energy.

However, while en route to Florida on Thursday, the Entegrus team was called off. A reason for the change has not been provided.

While crews with Chatham-Kent’s water and electricity provider said they were disappointed, they are being commended for their rapid response.

“We are incredibly proud of how our team came together to prepare and deploy in such a short time,” said Jim Hogan, president and CEO of Entegrus. “While our crew won’t be assisting on-site in Florida, this experience reaffirms our commitment to providing aid in times of crisis. Our thoughts remain with those impacted by these devastating storms.”

Two million Floridians were reportedly without power this week in the wake of hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Entegrus has previously supported Florida Power & Light during Hurricane Irma in 2017 and responded to other significant events, including Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
