Following a private prosecution launched by local resident Christine Burke, published reports say the Environment Minister, government staff, and three wind companies are being charged under the Environmental Protection Act.

While the municipality hasn’t been named in the suit, is does hold a stake in the North Kent Wind project. A statement was released from the Civic Centre on Friday saying there would be no comment as the matter is before the courts.

Just last week, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton announced the province was launching a health hazard investigation to determine whether water from contaminated wells near turbine sites was safe to drink.

A date has been set for proceedings to begin in court in Blenheim August 14th.
