Chatham-Kent-Leamington MP Dave Epp.

Another local politician has a big job ahead of them.

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MP Dave Epp has been named the Opposition’s Deputy Shadow Minister for Agriculture.

A farmer himself, Epp has deep roots in the riding’s agriculture industry. He’ll be working with Shadow Minister and Alberta MP John Barlow.

“Agriculture is facing important challenges such as a labour shortage across all skill levels, consistent, reliable access to export markets, and a Business Risk Management suite that is both predictable in the face of unpredictable weather and international trading relationships, without distorting market-based decision-making,” Epp says. “I am committed to working with Minister Bibeau while fulfilling my role as Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition to hold the government to account to ensure they are delivering efficient, transparent, accountable and sustainable government.”

The Shadow Cabinet’s role is to scrutinise policies and actions of the government, and offer alternative policies.

Earlier this week, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Lianne Rood was named the Conservative Party’s Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development and Rural Broadband Strategy.
