Students at a Chatham high school are getting a lesson on equality and inclusion this week.
Teacher Ian Kennedy says officials from the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity are holding workshops at CKSS focusing on issues facing gay, bisexual, and transgender athletes.
“The organization that’s coming down is going to run a more in-depth three hour certification program, for the students here so they can become allies,” says Kennedy. “Again, we can just makes sports accessible no matter how they identify or who they love. It’s just about playing a game. that’s the most important thing.”
A similar workshop is being held Friday evening at the Wish Centre for local sports teams and members of the public.
