The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says the road suffered damage over the weekend with waves eating away at the shoreline protections.

Paramedics were going door-to-door on Saturday to check on area residents, and road crews were on site throughout the weekend inspecting the damage.

Even though the wind has died down, officials with the LTVCA say the area remains susceptible to flooding given the recent damage that has occurred to shoreline protection works in the area.
