Erratic Speeder Faces Impaired Driving Charges

A Leamington man has been charged after allegedly getting behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers received a traffic complaint at around midnight on Saturday about a pickup truck that was seen travelling erratically at high speeds before pulling over and turning off its lights.

Police located the vehicle on Wheatley Road south of Tilbury and noticed the driver to be showing signs of impairment. The driver provided two breath samples, which allegedly registered 150 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

As a result, a 51-year-old Leamington man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg. He was later released from custody with a scheduled court date.
