Public elementary teachers will be walking off the job today in their first province-wide strike.
Rotating strikes have affected boards across Ontario over the last few weeks as contract talks with the province drag on.
In Chatham, teachers will be protesting in front of Tecumseh Public School. Two other strike locations are being held in Sarnia and one outside MPP Monte McNaughton’s office in Forest.
No new sessions have been planned since negotiations between EFTO and the Ministry broke down last Friday, and two more strike days – one rotating, one province-wide – will affect students in the Lambton-Kent board next Monday and Tuesday.
All other students, including those at public high school, French, and English Catholic schools, have class as usual today.
