Connecting ART and PEOPLE in CHATHAM-KENT
ARTcrawl is back on July 29th 2022 from 6:00-10:00 pm. This year’s theme is All Dressed Up… and Places to Go!
This growing downtown celebration of CK local arts and culture returns with whimsical new ways to engage with the
arts. Participants crawl at their leisure during this FREE Summer event, creating their own moving party!
After a two-year hiatus, Summer Artcrawl is back for 2022 as we get all dressed up to introduce a brand-new era here in Chatham-Kent.
The feature event with any ARTcrawl is the art and the Thames Art Gallery and Artspace are pleased to present this year’s gallery receptions with a special focus on fashion and photography.
We will be kicking off the party at ARTspace with the opening reception for “In the Shadow of Man Ray” featuring the Underground Film Collective. This exhibition of photography by a local collaboration known as the Underground Film Collective comprised of artists Michael Garland, Ashley Smith, and Scott Taylor. These artists use the Dada period immediately following WW1 as a starting point to explore creative ways to work with the photographic process.
A Family Friendly Workshop will be held through the day at ARTspace leading into the evening artist reception at 6 pm.
At the Thames Art Gallery we will be celebrating two new exhibitions.
Professor of Fashion at Toronto Metropolitan University, Colleen Schindler-Lynch will present her exhibition Daemon & Saudade at the Thames Art Gallery. Colleen’s work utilizes fashion, clothing and adornment to explore the intersection of loss, body and memory.
In the Mezzanine Gallery at TAG, Grahame Lynch will be debuting new photography as his exhibition; Being. Neither Here Nor There explores evocative and momentary glimpses into the urban landscape.
Colleen Schindler-Lynch and Grahame Lynch will be in attendance for a meet and greet while you enjoy our bar and refreshments.
While you are at the TAG make sure to check out our selfie station and show off your fabulous fashion.
Due to popular demand we will be bringing back the passport system, so as you visit each event make sure to get your passport stamped then submit your passport to the Thames Art gallery to be entered into a draw for a cash prize!
