As the cleanup continues from last weekend’s flooding in Chatham and Thamesville, the municipality has announced extra garbage days to help clear away debris.

Thamesville residents will have an extra pick-up day on Tuesday, March 6th and Friday, March 9th for excess and bulk items.

Chatham streets impacted by flooding will have an extra pick-up day next Wednesday and Thursday.

All garbage must be contained in garbage bags, cardboard boxes, garbage containers or toter carts where possible, but municipal officials say if the extra garbage can’t be contained, it needs to be bundled and tied and cut up into five-foot lengths and must not weigh more than 44 pounds so that the contractor can handle it safely.

Anyone outside the flood-affected areas who is dealing with water damage and needs some extra debris cleared way can contact the Civic Centre at 519-360-1998.
