Though the all-way stop at Murray and Reaume will remain in place for the time being, one Councillor says it’s not fair.
The proposed changes are part of the fall-out from the cancellation of the adult crossing guard program last year.
The four-way stop at Murray and Reaume was scheduled to be switched to a two-way stop with a lighted crosswalk last week, but following a public outcry that was delayed until current construction on McNaughton wraps up in July.
However, North Kent representative Joe Faas says Dresden wasn’t given the same consideration when he asked for the adult crossing guard program to be extended last year.
“In my opinion it’s a similar situation where we wanted to extend the crossing guard service there, but it didn’t get the two-thirds vote (necessary to be approved,)” Faas says. “I feel that we’ve been maybe treated a little differently than Wallaceburg.”
Faas says the delay goes against administration’s recommendations, and shouldn’t have been approved.
