Fairfield Park COVID Outbreak Continues To Spread

COVID-19 continues to spread through long term care and retirement homes in Chatham-Kent.

In their weekly update, officials from CK Public Health say there are currently three active outbreaks of the virus, including a total of 58 cases at Fairfield Park since November 14th. 

An outbreak declared at Riverview Gardens on November 21st has so far seen 19 total cases, while 6 cases have been linked to an outbreak at Meadows of Wheatley. 

Overall, 75 new high risk cases have been identified in Chatham-Kent between November 20th and the 26th, with a weekly average of 11 new cases a day. 

The positivity rate in Chatham-Kent has slipped to 13.9%, down from 14.9% the week before. The provincial rate is 10.6%.

Since March 2020, 10,513 people in Chatham-Kent have tested positive for COVID-19 while 91 local residents have lost their lives to the virus.
