Fairfield Park officials say they have been cleared of any wrong doing by the Ministry of Labour when it comes to the use of improperly labeled masks.

The long term care facility received a shipment of mislabeled masks as part of their personal protective equipment, and there was some concern they were not safe.

An independent study by the Ministry has determined the Wallaceburg facility is in good standing with infection prevention and control measures.

“We are pleased to share that after extensive laboratory testing, the masks have been confirmed to be safe for use in long-term care homes and to have met all requirements for Level 1 Medical Face Masks as set out by Health Canada and the Province of Ontario,” Administrator Tracey Maxim says in a statement. “We are pleased to put this unfortunate incident behind us, and we remain committed to providing a safe and rewarding workplace for our staff and a safe and comforting home for our residents.”

100 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since January 10th including residents, staff, and essential caregivers.

They are now down to just 2 cases, one resident and one staff member.
