A Wallaceburg man is facing weapon charges after allegedly providing police with a fake name.
The Ontario Provincial Police said on Monday shortly before 3 a.m., officers on patrol were notified by their Automated Licence Plate Recognition system about a stopped vehicle on Main Street near Erie Street in Ridgetown.
The officers spoke to the driver who allegedly provided a fake name and was arrested. Authorities also alleged the man was in possession of a prohibited weapon.
The 27-year-old accused is now charged with providing a false name to avoid arrest, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
