Teams from across Ontario are in Wallaceburg this weekend for the 31st Annual All Ontario Farmer’s Bonspiel.

According to Organizer Harry Curtis the bonspiel got its start in Wallaceburg.

“The great Ontario Curling Association saw how good a job we did and said, ‘Okay, we’re going to steal that from you,’ and for five years, it was fantastic,” says Curtis. “And then it withered and died because they didn’t do as good a job and five years later they just gave it up. We’ve been doing it for 31 years plugging along and now it is the premier farmers bonspiel here in Ontario.”

If you want to see the local team win back the championship from the Arthur team, the event goes at the Sydenham Community Curling Club and is free to attend.  Details can be found at www.farmersbonspiel.com
