A broken headlight has led to charges for a Chatham-Kent man.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped a vehicle with a defective headlight on Eugenie Street in Chatham at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
During the stop, officers discovered that the licence plate on the vehicle did not match the vehicle’s registration. The plates were seized, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Further investigation showed that the vehicle had been stolen.
As a result, a 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man was later located and arrested. He is now charged with two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, driving while under suspension, and driving with improper headlights.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
