A national agricultural organization is supporting community groups across the country.

Farm Credit Canada is donating $1.5 million to 82 organizations through its FCC AgriSpirit Fund to support rural capital projects.

This year, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund awarded between $10,000 and $25,000 to various community improvement initiatives that enrich the lives of residents in cities, towns or Indigenous communities with fewer than 150,000 people

Among the groups receiving funding include the Thamesville Sertoma Club, which has been given $20,000 to upgrade its kitchen to better serve community events.

The Moore Agricultural Society in Brigden is in line for $16,000 to install and upgrade fencing to improve safety and better contain animals on the fair grounds.

And the Glencoe and District Curling Club is using $19,000 to upgrade the rink’s deteriorating roof.

Over the past 21 years, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has supported 1,697 projects nation-wide, an investment of $22.5 million.
