Today marks the start of Black History Month, and there are a number of local events taking place to celebrate.
Samantha Meredith is the executive director of the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society.
“So many I find still don’t know the history that happened in their own back yards. We’re always encouraging people to come out to the museum, we’re here Monday to Friday 10-4pm,” says Meredith. “We have a special this month and all books in our gift shop are on sale get so hopefully we can get more people to buy kids books and get their kids learning early as well.”
