Legion branches across the country are in line for support through a federal aid package.

Over $7.2-million is being divided between 701 Royal Canadian Legions across the country as veterans’ support groups struggle with operational costs in the midst of the pandemic.

Officials say closures and cancelled events have hit Legions hard.

The Legion received $14-million out of a $20-million package earmarked for Veteran Organizations as part of Bill C-4, approved earlier this fall.

No word yet on how much of that money, if any, is earmarked for groups in Chatham-Kent.
